It’s been a great start to 2016 for my music making. I launched my album ‘Savour Life: Live at The John Peel Centre’ about a week ago and I have been overwhelmed by the response to it. Thank you to all the people who came out to celebrate its release with us and to the many people who helped me make it!
Two things I’ve learnt from peoples’ responses to the album is that firstly, people seem to be really enjoying it (woohoo!) and secondly, people seem to mostly listen to CDs in their cars these days. Maybe there’s life left in CDs yet.
For me, playing live is what it’s all about and I’ve been fortunate enough to have played quite a few gigs recently. I have some exciting shows coming up in 2016 including headline slots at The Cult Cafe in Ipswich on the 10th of June and at The Fisher Theatre in Bungay on the 18th of August. Hopefully I’ll see some of you at these.
Highlights of 2016 so far include Oliver Arditi joining Jon, Fern, Sam and me in our band of friends on bass. We had our first practice together yesterday and it sounded so great! I feel like my dream lineup is one more step towards being complete.
I also got to play at the party to launch Honey and The Bear's superb EP ‘About Time’ which was a really beautiful evening, once again reminding me how very fortunate I am to be a part of the wonderful local music scene there is here in Suffolk.
I’ve also gotten really into busking (or street performing) this year. I’ve enjoyed busking in a few places around Suffolk and also in Paris on our recent trip there! Busking has been a real revelation for me. It’s not something I would have ever really considered before, but once again, having been inspired by Lior Shoov, I gave it a go and have been loving it. Watching people smile as they walk past, giving me the feeling that I am spreading a little bit of joy through my music, makes life worth living. I’m getting my music out there by taking it to where people already are.
I’ll be busking around Suffolk this summer and I may even expand it to busking around Britain, watch this space as they say!
Thank you all for your continued love, support and encouragement. See you out there.
